The Vermis

One-of-a-kind handcrafted wood sculpture featuring beautiful Arizona desert driftwood, sustainably sourced from the Sonoran desert. Vermis is Latin for "worm" or "burrowing path," telling a story of quiet subterranean transformation. This piece honors ancient timber etched with intricate, winding channels left behind by the slow movement of time. It's a monolithic block of deeply aged, dark wood featuring natural boreholes and raw, hollowed caverns. I filled these organic fissures with brilliant crushed turquoise, creating a striking mineral stream against the rich chocolate-brown grain. Elevated on twin steel posts above a solid matte-black pedestal, it has a lot of architectural authority. It’s a great way to bring raw elemental history and vibrant contrast to a foyer console or mantel display.
