The Truncus

One-of-a-kind handcrafted wood sculpture featuring beautiful Arizona desert driftwood, sustainably sourced from the Sonoran desert. Truncus means "trunk" or "torso" in Latin. This large-scale sculpture is about the grounded power and deep character of ancient rootstock holding fast against arid winds. I crafted it from rich, naturally weathered Arizona mesquite, adding vibrant inlays of Kingman turquoise that stream through the swirling grain like hidden groundwater. I mounted it above a sleek black base on crystal-clear acrylic rods, giving it a weightless, floating effect. It also features remote-controlled LED backlighting that casts a warm glow through the natural cavities, highlighting the timber and vivid mineral veins.
