The Scandere

One-of-a-kind handcrafted wood sculpture featuring beautiful high-alpine driftwood, sustainably sourced from the Colorado rockies. Scandere means "to climb" or "ascend" in Latin, which perfectly describes the continuous upward growth of ancient pines reaching for high-alpine skies. I handcrafted this vertical wall sculpture from high-elevation driftwood, focusing on its sweeping, flame-like silhouette that tapers skyward. I coursed intricate veins of vibrant crushed turquoise through its deeply weathered grain and dark, hollowed core, echoing mineral streams in alpine rock. By mounting it against a minimalist black backing board, the rich golden wood tones and luminous turquoise really pop. It brings refined verticality and high-country endurance to any modern entryway or living room.
