The Ovis

One-of-a-kind handcrafted wood sculpture featuring beautiful high-alpine driftwood, sustainably sourced from the Colorado rockies. Ovis translates to "sheep," inspired by the enduring strength and spiraled silhouette of the bighorn sheep. I suspended a dramatically textured horn in a gravity-defying arc, showcasing the ridged layers shaped by harsh alpine elements. Below it, I used a heavily grained wood base that naturally cradles a rough-cut mineral stone within its hollow. A discreet steel support allows the horn to hover effortlessly above the wood. It creates a really captivating dialogue between wildlife, raw earth, and weathered timber. It’s a striking, gallery-ready piece that brings a touch of rustic heritage to a mantel or console.
