The Loligo

One-of-a-kind handcrafted wood sculpture featuring beautiful high-alpine driftwood, sustainably sourced from the Colorado rockies. Loligo is the Latin word for "squid," a nod to the way wood and water often share the exact same sweeping curves. When I found this weathered timber, its upward-reaching tendrils immediately reminded me of an aquatic creature gliding through ocean currents. The deeply aged, honeyed grain is punctuated by dark burnished accents and a polished stone element that sits almost like a watchful eye. The twisting forms really seem to dance in the light, giving the piece a highly animated, living presence. It’s a very fluid, mysterious piece that works beautifully in a coastal or organic modern space.
