The Lignum

One-of-a-kind handcrafted wood sculpture featuring beautiful Arizona desert driftwood, sustainably sourced from the Sonoran desert. Lignum is simply Latin for "wood," and this piece is all about elevating nature’s raw material into art. It honors durable desert heartwood that has survived decades of blazing sun and parched winds. I crafted this from Arizona desert driftwood, focusing on its weather-worn curves and aged grain. I inlaid luminous copper leaf along the natural crevasses, forming a metallic current that anchors into a raw matrix base of turquoise and chrysocolla. The dialogue between the dark timber, teal stone, and copper makes this a sophisticated statement piece, ideal for bringing raw desert energy to a modern entryway.
