The Hortus

One-of-a-kind handcrafted wood sculpture featuring beautiful high-alpine driftwood, sustainably sourced from the Colorado rockies. Hortus is Latin for "garden." This piece is all about the contrast between weathered timber and fresh life. I took a gently arcing log and hand-carved a hollow that follows its natural curve, turning it into a vessel for a vibrant display of faux desert succulents. The rich, warm wood tones provide a really grounded foundation for the soft greens, purples, and coral rosettes of the plants. It’s a great balance of raw timber and delicate plant geometry, making it a very serene, natural centerpiece for a dining table, mantel, or a sunlit entryway.
