The Gigas

One-of-a-kind handcrafted wood sculpture featuring beautiful high-alpine driftwood, sustainably sourced from the Colorado rockies. Gigas gets its name from the Latin word for "giant," and it definitely lives up to it. This piece was carved from a massive section of high-altitude wood that spent decades weathering harsh mountain elements. It features a dramatic, natural curve filled with deep knots, dark whorls, and a rich, swirling honey-gold grain. I wanted to balance its heavy physical gravity, so I built a custom minimalist black tripod stand for it. The mount allows this massive piece to float a bit, creating a really nice interplay of shadow and texture. It’s a substantial, grounding sculpture with a lot of natural history—perfect for bringing warmth and character to a modern entryway or a larger living space.
